Clare Monkley - President
"Having built my life around the great Australian Dream of Property purchase, I have truly combined my love for people and passion for property into my business (Love Finance).
Balancing the demands of family, work and creating sufficient income to provide for your future takes constant planning, dedication and a never-ending quest to be at the forefront of your game.
My talent in life is to manage and facilitate the outcomes desired by my clients and bring together the purchase of property whilst mediating the requirements of financial institutions – ultimately giving a stronger voice for my clients."
Where is your next Home or Investment property? "I have developed resources to acquire properties all around Australia and the USA and I am happy to discuss the suitability of these options for you. Quite often people are surprised at their own capacity to purchase property when it is structured properly."
Actively speak from the heart! "On a regular basis I run property workshops, mentor property investors as well as being featured in print on the topics of property investing.
I am a member of the Hunter Women’s Business Network, have been previously nominated for Telstra Business Woman of the Year, and in early 2015 was elected President of the Throsby Basin Business Chamber."
My dream come true: "I love the sound of Happiness. When you have a dream of owning your own home and securing your family’s financial future, the lack of money can be an anchor around your neck. When I am able to assist you to achieve your dreams and to know that I have made a difference to your life and the lives of your family, I feel incredibly grateful."

Dianne Steggles - Treasurer
“I was born and raised in Newcastle and my family has been actively involved in the business world of the Newcastle region for generations - from stock feed and produce merchants to chicken processing and fast food restaurants. My father started Steggles chickens which later became a public company, and so from a young age I have been involved in the business community.
From 1980 until we sold the business in 2009 I was a director and shareholder of Henny Penny Holdings and other related companies and for many years I was involved in the day to day operation and expansion of the business. In my role at Henny Penny we became the first major sponsor of the Newcastle Knights Rugby League team and I was a director of the foundation board of the Newcastle Knights, of which I have very fond memories . During this time I was invited to become a member of YPO (Young Presidents Organisation) which is a business organisation for young CEO's. Like many I have received formal qualifications from university culminating in my last degree which was a Master of Business Administration.
Currently my business activities revolve around the management of private investments, a proportion of which are property based and held mostly in the TBBC area and the inner city. This affords me a fair amount of time through work load and flexible hours to enjoy some of my favourite past times which include spending time with family, tending to my cattle at the farm, travelling, skiing and my new hobby, the restoration of a vintage 911 Porsche.
With my history and experience I believe that I can bring a level head and calming influence to the board of TBBC.”
Karen Howard - Board Member
What is your link to the Throsby Basin Business Chamber area? "For three years I lived in Maryville, in fact it’s where we bought my son home from hospital to, and for six years I ran a business in Maryville which I’m very proud to say is still operating today – the NineWays Business Centre. I see the Throsby Basin area as having huge economic possibilities, and particularly capitalising on the location of the new Transport Interchange."
What sort of business are you involved in? "My partner Will Creedon and I operate short and medium term accommodation throughout the entire Newcastle and Port Stephens area. Newcastle Tighes Hill Accommodation is located on the corner of Maitland Road and Elizabeth Street, is a unique property and is popular with out of town workers looking for medium to long term accommodation, whilst they’re working on major projects in and around Newcastle. I also operate a boutique consulting business predominantly helping small business owners."
What do you do in your spare time? "My spare time is spent on family and friends. My son is a championship tap and ballet dancer, so between dance lessons, eisteddfods and concerts, there isn’t a lot of time left over. I really enjoy Pilates and Yoga and they are my main form of relaxation."
What skills do you bring to the Board? "I’m a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and have been serving on mainly not-for-profit boards for over 16 years in our Region, with over 10 of those years spent on the boards of Business Chambers. The Chamber model is one that I understand well, and coupled with my strong appreciation for the life of a business owner, I believe that I can make a positive difference."
